Treatment of children
At Dana-Dwek, each child receives professional treatment tailored to their specific needs.
Every year, over 9,500 children successfully undergo in-patient treatment at Dana-Dwek. More than 1,550 surgeries are performed and expert consultations are provided to more than 45,500 young patients.
Our highly professional pediatricians provide caring, warm, and compassionate care to our young patients. The children and their parents receive all the required assistance from our pediatric psychologists, physiotherapists, and play therapy specialists. Parents are also taught how to provide postoperative home care following their child’s surgery and treatment.
Everything at Dana-Dwek has been specifically designed to accommodate the needs of our young patients: specially designed buildings, customized treatment programs, highly qualified medical experts in all the required specialties, and incredibly friendly teams of medical nurses, social workers, teachers, and patient care professionals.
The state-of-the-art equipment enables our highly skilled, world-class specialists to perform sensitive neurosurgical procedures for head injuries, congenital cranial and spinal defects, vascular diseases of the brain, spinal cord, and central nervous system, and brain and spinal cord tumors.
Our pediatric cardiologists successfully manage cardiovascular disorders while the orthopedic surgeons specialize in the treatment of children with scoliosis. The hospital’s surgeons perform neurological, plastic, urological, orthopedic and ophthalmological surgery procedures.
The hospital provides effective treatment solutions for children with leukemia, Hodgkin disease, and other hematological conditions. If indicated, bone marrow transplantation or intensive chemotherapy procedures can be used.
Dana-Dwek Children’s Hospital pays special attention to disease prevention and individual post-treatment rehabilitation periods. The hospital is engaged in ongoing scientific and research activities aimed at improving the diagnostics, pediatric emergency care, treatment of childhood diseases, and specific rehabilitation programs. Intensive efforts are made to develop new therapies ensuring better outcomes for children with chronic conditions.
The children’s hospital rooms are decorated with bright and colorful pictures. Beside each child’s hospital bed, there is a special chair for parents. At Dana-Dwek Children’s Hospital, parents are welcome to stay with their children, and can even remain by their side overnight. Parents are encouraged to take part in their child’s care throughout the entire treatment, irrespective of the child’s age.
Each hospital room has a separate bathroom with a toilet and a shower cabin. There is a telephone, a television, and age-appropriate toys and games.
Dana-Dwek Children’s Hospital is currently involved in more than 15 research and development projects focused on the priority issues in the field of pediatric care. Each of them is vitally important for the improvement of treatment outcomes in young patients.
Medical care for children in Israel is highly effective because our pediatricians perform comprehensive diagnostic tests, select the best treatment options available for the young patients, and develop the most appropriate rehabilitation programs, which are strictly followed.
All our young patients feel truly at home here, but most importantly – they return home feeling well and healthy!
