CAR-T cells (chimeric antigen receptor T cells) are genetically engineered immune cells designed to detect and destroy cancer. In some blood cancers, such as diffuse large B-cell lymphoma or acute lymphoblastic leukemia, the cancerous cells evade the immune system. With CAR-T immunotherapy in Israel, patients’ T-cells are collected, modified in a certified lab abroad, and re-infused to selectively attack cancer cells.
This CAR-T cancer treatment has been approved by health authorities in the US, Europe, and Israel, and is now available at Ichilov Medical Center for eligible patients.
